Job Title: Youth Sports Specialist

Department: Youth Leadership and Development Programs

FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt, Part-Time Employment Salary $16,900

Reports to: Director of Girls Inc/Youth Programs

Job Summary:

To provide leadership, program development and implementation for YWCA Soccer Programs and Girls Inc at YWCA programming throughout the year.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned)

  • Implement sports programming for YWCA Soccer and Girls Inc at YWCA as assigned

  • Coach teams as assigned, collaborate on special projects, assist with outreach

  • Support administrative needs: complete attendance tracking, develop registration forms and flyers, analyze data

  • Plan for development and implementation of Girls Inc. and related programs directly and through staff and volunteers

  • Prepare appropriate records of participation, individual projects and program impact as needed for reports and grants; but not limited to attendance, demographics, accident/ incident reports

  • Requisition and control of program supplies and materials

  • Ensure proper staff coverage for designated group in case of absence

  • Perform minor custodial duties when needed

  • Participate in and contribute to agency, regional, and national trainings

  • Build relationships with parents and keep them informed of program activities, field trips and events

  • Act in accordance with YWCA mission, policies, and goals

  • Represent agency in community activities in consonance with established policies

  • Perform other duties as requested and agreed upon

  • Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Minimal supervisory responsibilities – may supervise interns and CNYWorks youth employees assigned to groups

Minimum Qualification Standards:

Experience in youth development services/programs.

Work experience in youth work or related field which includes some experience in supervision, administration, curriculum and course design, and community relations.

Experience implementing social-emotional learning with youth.

Knowledge of current issues and concerns directly related to youth experiences in the community.

Preferred Qualification Standards:

Bachelor Degree with courses in education, recreation, psychology, and sociology preferred.

Special Requirements:

Current and valid NYS driver’s license

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond effectively to common injuries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or board of directors.

Mathematical

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, areas, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (body language). Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
